New Preschool Extension February 2018 Update
In summer 2017 the Preschool was at full capacity. This meant that we were faced with having to turn young children away, denying them the opportunity of an education, which they so desperately need.
KHULA EDUCATION launched a funding appeal to increase the number of school places per class. We needed to enlarge the Pre School to accommodate 80 children in two classes instead of just 40.
At the end of January 2018 the new Preschool opened its doors to the community and we have been inundated with requests from parents for their children to attend!
The Preschool expansion has now been completed. This includes the two new classrooms, which now accommodate 40 children each. In addition we have installed new water tanks, new toilets for children and staff, a sick bay and much needed storage facilities.
The whole community is overjoyed at their Preschool and we have already received very positive feedback:
“We think it is a very good idea that more of the children can come to the Pre School, we want all of our children to learn at school” – Quote from Parent
“I like it here, we play a lot” – Quote from Child
“The children, they need an opportunity to learn in English. From my experience the difference is very clear between the children who come to Pre School and those who cannot. We have to offer an education to all of the children” – Quote form Principal
The KHULA EDUCATION trustees and the whole local community would like to thank the generous supporters listed below. It is because of their support a great many more rural children in Kwa Zulu-Natal will receive an early years education and the foundations for a brighter future.
